How far can VR go? Well, the answer to this lies in the upcoming high-end virtual reality headset, Project Cambria. VR has been evolving ever since it was introduced to the world and big giants like Meta are making leaps and bounds in adding more advancements to it. Here’s all you need to know about Meta’s upcoming high-end virtual reality headset, Project Cambria.
Facebook is developing a high-end virtual and augmented reality headgear known as "Project Cambria." The gadget, which was briefly mentioned at Facebook's Connect event, has cameras that transmit high-resolution full-color video to the headset's displays. It's expected to offer cutting-edge capabilities that Facebook can't currently put in the Oculus Quest series, but no pricing or release date has been announced.
The role of Meta’s Presence Platform
It’s a new path for developers to create creative experiences through VR in Oculus Quest. The three main tools in it are Interaction SDK, Voice SDK, and Insight SDK. So why this platform you ask? The present VR Quest headset can only show the visuals in gray. But the new Project Cambria is a step higher where it uses technology and Meta’s Presence Platform to reveal colors to make the experience much better and real.
The Cambria headset stands miles ahead of the Quest. Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth tweeted, “the full set of Presence Platform tools powered by machine perception and AI—Passthrough, Spatial Anchors, Scene, Interaction, and Voice SDKs, and our recently updated Hand Tracking API.”
The teaser came out in a two-and-a-half-minute video that compares and shows how Project Cambria can make your VR experience more “real” when compared to its previous version Oculus Quest.
